Another year begins. Like the competitors there is a pre season equipment check.
A updating of equipment. Licence and Accreditation applications sent and received
This year Cams in it's infinite wisdom and efficiency has given me a new ID number and new
vest number, like I am a new person also at a lesser ranking. BUT....... and this is a big but
I am too afraid to bring this to their attention. Anything could happen. I may end up a
open wheeler pilot or pit control official neither of which is a bad thing but it is not a position
from which a photographer does their best work. With CAMS near enough is sometimes as good as
it gets. And this year if more people would buy more photos instead of giving their friends the web
address so that they can look at the photos for free I would appreciate it.
Anyway on wards to a better season. Safety all the way.
Another great weekend of great Tarmac Rallying has been had at the Quit Targa South West. With Newcomers and experienced Rally Nuts the crowds were entertained. All the competitors were flat out at all times. Though some interpretations of flat out were different and slower to others. If I could edit photos as fast as I take them things would be a lot easier.
The weekend that has just passed is one of the saddest in West Australian Motorsport. Firstly my heart felt condolence to the family and friends of the unfortunate family. To clarify my following words I was there at the scene. I just want to convey my observations and maybe deal with the situation in my own head. Proud to say that those who were there acted in a professional manner at all times and performed their duties such as medical, comforting, controlling people and vehicle movements as needed, as would be expected. I know that no words or gestures will ease the suffering of those concerned but may they get comfort from all the concerned wishes. I know that from now on I will give more attention to were I stand, complacency has gone, but I will still be out there. The Sport needs our support, be that there will be more consideration towards safety. There will always be a little boys face in the back of my mind to remind me.
The photos are coming. I'm back from my weekend of eating dust and I'm exhausted. The weekend went so fast but editing photos seems to take longer than the weekend. I'll get there.
After a summer hibernation the "Grumpy Photographer" is back. I'm awake or it is bloody good dream. This up coming year appears to have many opportunities to get out there and capture some great moments of Auto Action starting with track racing then gravel rally for starters. The aim this year is to be there and record it as it happens. So why not come along for the ride. It will not be pretty at times, then my legs never were, but the end result will make it worth it. This is what I keep telling myself, I believe in pixies too. Not fairies they are too dainty. But Pixies are tough. See you at the track sometime this is a flash free zone unless it is dark.
